There’s a reason this series has a cult following.
Carl is outside in subzero weather, trying to persuade his ex-girlfriend’s cat to come in, when It happens – aliens annex the Earth, kill almost everyone, take all of Earth’s resources, and chase the survivors into the Dungeon. Carl (in his boxers) and the reigning Persian Tortoiseshell champion Princess Donut bolt for the Dungeon entrance and, in doing so, enter an intergalactically televised reality show / Dungeons and Dragons tournament / over the top science fiction adventure story. What follows is 8 books of insane action, twists, adventure, a surprising amount of heart and depth, and an addictive multi-thousand-page extravaganza. The audiobooks, voiced by the insanely talented Jeff Hays, absolutely come alive through his incredible narration, though I find the printed format just as addictive and engaging.
Dungeon Crawler Carl is my favorite series in many, many years, and I highly recommend you join this cult!
