Project Scope of Work

• Heat Pumps
  • Five outdoor units and 6 indoor units will heat and cool the building all year. Most of the indoor units are ceiling-mounted or wall-mounted. In historical areas, custom wooden covers will blend with the existing heating system.
• Roof Mounted Solar Array
  • 55 solar panels, producing the same power as 28 microwaves, will cut the library’s electricity costs by about half.
• Building Automation System
  • The old controls are being replaced with a modern system that will efficiently manage heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) to save energy.
• LED Lighting and Controls
  • All the lights are being upgraded to energy-efficient LEDs with smart controls, including dimming and daylight sensors. Emergency lighting and exit signs are also being updated.
• Roof Replacement
  • The old 8,000 sq ft rubber roof is being replaced with a new one, including better insultation to improve energy efficiency. Roof drains and walkway pads are also being updated.
• Building Envelope Improvements
  • Weatherstripping and seals on exterior doors are being replaced to prevent drafts. Gaps around pipes and electrical lines will be sealed, and windows will get a removeable system to improve insulation while allowing for emergency exits.
• Mechanical Insulation Improvements
  • Two-inch fiberglass insulation is being added to existing hot water pipes to improve energy efficiency.
• Ceiling Tile Replacements
  • The old ceiling tiles are being replaced with new ones to refresh the library’s look and reduce noise, creating a quieter reading environment.
